Have you heard about the recent eye drop recall?

The US Food and Drug Administration has warned consumers to immediately stop using 27 over-the-counter (OTC) eye drops due to the potential risk of eye infections that could cause partial vision loss or even blindness. This new eye drop recall follows multiple recalls earlier this year.

Target, Walmart, Amazon, Leader, Rugby, CVS, Velocity Pharma, and Rite Aid sell the OTC lubricating drops. Moreover, the FDA released a statement pointing out that Amazon is distributing several brands of eye drops without FDA approval.

The brands included in the latter are Manzanilla Sophia Chamomile Herbal Eye Drops, Can-C Eye Drops, OcluMed Eye Drops, Optique 1 Eye Drops, TRP Natural Eyes Floaters Relief, the Goodbye Company Pink Eye, and Similasan Pink Eye Relief.

The complete eye drop recall list is available on the FDA website.

The agency recalled the products after its experts found unsanitary conditions in the manufacturing locations and bacteria after testing environmental samples of the main drug production areas. As of this writing, no reports of eye infections are associated with these eye drops.

  3. My husband’s eyes were in pretty good shape for his age, fast forward 8 months later, suddenly had glaucoma in both his eyes after using the CVS brand re-wet drops, never realizing that something was wrong until after I used the same drops a few months later, then one of my eyes started to mess up as if my retina was trying to tear away from my eye when my eyes were in good shape just four or five months prior to me using the Cvs brand rewet single eye drops, now I’m at a dilemma. How can I prove that it was these drops that’s causing these problems in our eyes. Of course we stop using the drops a long time ago, but I still have them just in case I find out where to have them tested. I need figure out how to prove that these drops messed up our eyes. I didn’t know there was a recall on them. Please reach out if you have information on who I should reach out to. Thank you so much in advance.
