1. Chimpanzees

Chimanzees and bonobos are fiercely intelligent critters with complex social hierarchies. This should really surprise us since they share 98.7% of their DNA with humans.

Researchers have discovered that chimpanzees have the ability to think in abstract ways, a trait that makes them one of the most intelligent animals in the world.

Numerous studies have shown that they can recognize themselves in mirrors, further supporting their impressive ability to wrestle with abstract concepts.

The Royal Zoological Society of Antwerp conducted an interesting study that showed that bonobos were better at solving puzzles than chimpanzees.

Behavioral biologist Jeroen Stevens pointed out at the time that most chimps and bonobos were able to understand the puzzles but weren’t equally motivated to solve them.

If you want to read more about chimps behavior, this book will give you remarkable insights into the apes world.
