One little-known fact about CBD is that the substance is known as “neuroprotective.” The National Institutes of Health (NIH) officially describes it as so, which means that the substance will have an effect on the nervous system but not in the same way that cannabis has.

A lot of researchers and doctors out there end up talking about this, calling the ideas that a lot of the effects people hail as definitely working akin to “religious belief” since all of the studies that have been conducted so far have been small.

Despite this, small studies have shown that there have been improvements in the symptoms of high blood pressure, rheumatoid arthritis, anxiety, and multiple sclerosis with the use of CBD.

Anything more than that would not have been proved by research but rather be based on anecdotal evidence so far. There are a lot of benefits to using CBD products for the aforementioned diseases, along with animal studies that indicate that it could also be great for the likes of depression, nerve pain, and diabetes, just to name a few.

The NIH has in recent years invested up to $15 million in human trials for CBD, so we may end up seeing other results soon!

Despite many swearing by it, there are side effects!

While you may not think that a lot of people use or have tried CBD, Consumer Reports has conducted a survey that has shown that 26% of Americans have used this substance in one way or another. They have also said that CBD has helped them relieve symptoms of anxiety, sleep issues, and joint pains, just to mention a few of the issues.

CBD does not pose any risk to people, but there are some drawbacks to it. It has been observed that CBD causes weight loss, fatigue, and diarrhea in certain people. It has also been observed that the substance does interact with certain medications, so it is highly recommended to talk to your doctor before you give CBD a try.

They may recommend a certain type or brand that will not cause you any problems when taken along with your current medication.

Likewise, you should be careful about what type of CBD supplement you are taking, as sometimes extracts have certain other ingredients along with THC and other extracts. You should make sure you read the label carefully, and if possible, ask your doctor about which one is the best!
