No. 6 on our list of drugs pulled from the market is Fen-Phen. Also known as fenfluramine, it was a very popular weight-loss drug, peaking in the 1990s. It’s estimated that up to 6.5 million people took it to help fight obesity. But let’s see what happened.

Similar to other drugs pulled from the market, consumers started experiencing side effects that, unfortunately, were pretty serious. With heart disease and other pulmonary problems on the list of side effects, the FDA set the recall in motion.

According to some data, over 50,000 people have filed suits against Fen-Phen’s manufacturer, Wyeth. This is one of the drugs pulled from the market that were available for consumers for a very long time—24 years.
